She Stuck Her Big Fat Toe In It! - Baked Apple Crisp

Hola!  Hope everyone is well and dandy!  As I mentioned recently the lingo we use, among mi Familia, to compliment or acknowledge the cook who has made something extra-ordinarily delicious is..."she stuck her big fat toe in it!"   It's just a way of saying "OMG how delicious" or "this is the bomb" or "you shonuff can cook".  But of course in mi Familia these phrases were not quite sufficient enough to describe the salivating joy of our taste buds.  So as far back as I can remember we say "she stuck her big fat toe in it!" and if it is a male, naturally we say "he stuck his big fat toe in it!"  We are not weird, we're just very expressive!

In this instance it is my Precious Treasure3, my youngest, who stuck her big fat toe in her very first attempt at baked apple crisp.  You can imagine how happy our tummies where last night!

Here is the recipe she used...

Ingredients needed:
-10 cups all-purpose apples, peeled, cored and sliced (she used green apples)
-1 cup white sugar
-1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
-1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-1/2 cup water
-1 cup quick-cooking oats
-1 cup all-purpose flour
-1 cup packed brown sugar
-1/4 teaspoon baking powder
-1/4 teaspoon baking soda
-1/2 cup butter, melted

Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degree C).
2) Place the sliced apples in a 9x13 inch pan.  Mix the white sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and ground cinnamon together, and sprinkle over apples.  Pour water evenly over all.
3) Combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and melted butter together.  Crumble evenly over the apple mixture.
4) Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 45 minutes.

Hey, I helped her peel the apples, stir the mixture and sprinkle the crumble over the apples.  Wonder if that means I stuck my big fat toe in it too?  Nah, she totally gets all the credit with this one.  She made it with love and served it with ice-cream!!!  Yummy, yummy to the tummy!

As always, thank y'all for stopping by.  It is always a pleasure to have you visit.  Please come back and let me know if you tried the recipe.  I am curious to know if your familia or friends will say...
"She Stuck Her Big Fat Toe In It!"

Tootles!

  1. Sounds and looks delicious - and quite like what we call Apple Crumble (or Plum, Rhubarb or Gooseberry Crumble for that matter!) All yummy, bad for one, but just the pudding for days like we are having here in the UK. It hasn't stopped raining all day (plus all night for the last two to three days) and we've got flooding in the village, as well as all around us!

Well done younger daughter! May your cooking efforts continue to thrive!
