30 Days Grateful: Day 7 - As Weird or Odd as it May Sound

As I lay my head to rest and my soul to sleep, I ponder upon what I am grateful for today.  I think of all the many things to be grateful for like the air we breath, our hands, our feet, our sight, our hearing.  Many of us take these things for granted not realizing how precious they are to us.  Of course we don't do this consciously, we do this subconsciously.

Imagine not having your hands to caress your child's face or hold their little tender hands in yours.  Or not having your feet to sink into the deep cool sand beneath the hot sun.  I've learned that being grateful is a conscious choice.  It is true.  And if it is said that we only use 10% of our conscious mind and the rest is subconscious, imagine how many times in a day do we miss out on being grateful for something.  We may, by habit or custom, say a prayer of thanks for dinner or when we lay to sleep.  Imagine if we could live consciously grateful most of the time, hey even all of the time!

At first it may seem like hard work because we are not use to it, so we may have to consciously remind ourselves.  But, it is also said that practice makes perfect.  I know my life has been enriched in many ways ever since I've tried to consciously be grateful for all things.  For a while now, I have noticed, after quenching my thirst with a nice cold glass of water, I say "Thank God for water".  And I say this all the time now. Sometimes I even say it out of breath after taking that last delicious gulp in awe of how truly grateful to have a glass of water to drink!  Ahhhhh!

As weird or odd as it may sound, today I am grateful for realizing the ability to be consciously grateful.  Doing so has bettered by life.  I know I ask this question everyday after this post but, that's kinda the idea behind 30 Days Grateful so I ask again

What are you grateful for today?

Tootles!
