30 Days Grateful: Day 21 - Calling G-L-O-R-I-A!

As I lay my head to rest and my soul to sleep, I ponder upon what I am grateful for today.  You could set out your outfit the night before, get up extra early to prepare your lunch, do something special with your hair, head out early to work so you can have time to admire the dawn's sky and still hit an unexpected traffic jam that leads you to get off the highway (thank God because I heard later that it lasted 5 hours) only to realize you are lost and have no idea where you are going. Panic time!

That basically describes my morning today.  Everyone I called had no idea how to direct me to my destination.  It was 6:30 a.m, maybe they were still asleep.  I dunno.  Did I mention my destination was to my job?  My new job!?  Yes sirree.  So, needless to say, not only was I panicking because I was lost, I was also anxious because I did not want to be late to a job I just started last week.

Anyhoo, I finally reached my long-time friend, Gloria, of many, many years (she's more like a sis) who answered her phone in a laryngitis tone.  Through her hoarse voice, she managed to calm me down and direct me straight to the Turnpike. It was smooth sailing after that.  She was there to the rescue.  I was 30 minutes late to work, but hey, sh**t happens.

As I lay my head to rest and my soul to sleep, I realize I didn't even ask how she lost her voice.  I gotta give her a call.  Today I am grateful for my long-time friend Gloria!  My hero for the day.

You should know the drill by now :)

Tootles!

  1. It seems like everything worked out though you were late for work you r first day of work. It reminds me of the day I went for an interview for my current job. I was pretty calm until I kept walking by the building I was supposed to go. The was construction going on in and on the building, and the scaffolding hid the building address. That caused my a little anxiety. Everything turned out OK. I called the job was told where to go. I got there a minute before the appointment.

  2. Hey 30 minutes late is better than the 5 hours it would have taken in that traffic. Glad you arrived at work safely.
