In My Imaginary Home for the Holidays!

As you all know, for the moment, I have no home to call my own.  Yes, I have a roof over my head, but it's not my own roof.  Yes, I have a bed to sleep on, but it's not my own cozy bed.  Don't get me wrong, I am very thankful for all I have...I really am.  I guess with the holidays on the way my heart is missing and longing for it's own.  I miss my own.  No, I don't have a home of my own.  At least not a physical home.  So call me crazy, weird or odd, I am still going to be me.  And "me" has an imaginary home for the holidays.  In my imaginary home I will be sharing the things I would be doing if I were actually in my own home.  Like for instance, decorating for the holidays and sharing the special traditional and nontraditional holiday treats.  Perhaps maybe even the music I'd be hearing and stuff I would normally be doing if I were at my own home.  I first wrote about my imaginary home here if you want to know more about it.  As a matter of love, I think I will make it a weekly series up until the end of the holidays or until my imaginary home becomes my reality home.  I am hoping by Christmas since Thanksgiving is already around the corner.  Do you believe it's only 18 more days before Thanksgiving Day!  Time really does fly by and I want to enjoy every moment I am blessed with.

I am also thankful for having the sense to have kept all my drawings safely away in a binder.  The drawing I chose above for the series is 10 years old and looks crisply new.  The binder is double paged, so I have hundreds of drawings still to share with you all, but that is a whole other post.

Sorry for the deviation.  Let's get back to my imaginary home for the holidays.   Here are some other decorating ideas you will find in my home for the Thanksgiving Holiday.  I like to personalize my decorations as much as possible.  I feel it brings in a warm, loving and positive energy to the home.

One day, last year, I was scattering through piles of old paperwork that I had in a box.  I found a folded piece of artwork paper that caught my attention by the colors peeking through it.  I unfolded the paper and in an instant my mood changed from a busy-body-scattering-around-woman to a busy-body-scattering-around-paper-CRYING-woman.  I could not believe my eyes.  It was a finger-art piece that was given to me by my precious trio when they were little girls.  The image of their little hands squeezed my heart into tears and their little words of BIG love for their mommy turned me into mucus-dripping-drooling-bawling frenzy.  I kid you not.  Then I was all big smiles and happy and blessed to have found it.  So much so that I immediately had it professionally framed with paper protection sealant and all.

So in honor to this precious keepsake and the memory of the moment my little girls shared, you will find this holiday decoration on my dinner table.  It is a hand-print turkeys bread basket liner that would be keeping warm some fresh baked biscuits or thick hot Cuban bread.  Yummy, yummy to the tummy!  Perhaps I will try to make a bread liner of my own using the little hands of the G-kidz!

I love color, so any one of these will add a little pop of the holiday spirit in my home.
Along with these table decorations, I'd probably be burning pumpkin spice or maybe even lavender scent incense around the home.   This project is proven to be really good for the soul.  It's keeping my spirits high and soaring.  I enjoyed sharing my imaginary home with y'all and anticipate doing so every week.  I am excited and hope y'all come back for more.  See ya next Sunday!

Do you decorate your home for the Thanksgiving holiday?
What are your favorite table setting decorations?

  1. No, we don't decorate for Thanksgiving. I would like to. Maybe as Emma gets older and knows not to touch certain things to put them in her mouth.

I love that art work from your precious. I just made daddy a card for his bday Wed with Emma's footprint in it since she wouldn't hold her hand out great.

  2. Hola Jennifer!
Awww, a footprint is just as warm and loving! Thanks for stopping by and sharing. It is always nice to have you visit!

  3. Lol when I saw the hands I thought the same thing. We should do it!

Let's chat, share and get to know each other!
