Daddy's Essence in a Black and Gold Frame

Lately, life has been smiling my way and things just seem to be fluttering into place like butterflies and I LOVE butterflies!  I've learned that patience truly is a virtue and that certain things will happen when they should, as they should.   Last month, on the morning of Father's Day to be more precise, I awoke early and remember sitting at the edge of my bed.  I sat there for a while concocting a mental picture of the post I wanted to publish in tribute to my father that day.  But, something didn't quite seem right.  I don't know what it was but for some unexplainable reason I felt rushed.  So I started feeling frustrated and getting all emotional because I just don't like feeling rushed especially when it involves speaking my heart. I wanted it to be special.

My father was a great man.  He stood for hard work, honor and integrity.  Yea, he made his mistakes just like anyone else.  He loved his family.  He lived for his family.  He worked hard for his family and did the best he could with the hand life had dealt him.  He'd always tell my sister's and I "You are not better than anyone and no one is better than you".  For some reason I couldn't find the right words grasping the essence of my father.

Memories of the stories of his life as a child, a brother, a husband, a father a friend and a fighter fluttered in my brain agitating the heart.  A single tear drop rolled down my face as I sat there all alone at the edge of my bed.   I thought of Mother's Day and the post I had written for my mother and how easily and fun it turned out to be.  I started to feel pressured.  My mind and heart struggled as they conspired to voice my thoughts when the morning took a rather unusual and unexpected twist.  Just in the nick of time, I received quite a very special Message from a Daughter to her Mother on Father's Day! making what seemed to be a hard day for me an even more special day.  Life has been smiling my way and things just seem to be fluttering into place like wild butterflies!

Patience truly is a virtue they say.  And things will happen when they should, as they should.  Sometimes expectantly other times unexpectedly.  Last night my sister was sorting through some old boxes of cluttered and forgotten things when she pulls out a picture frame.  "Remember this?" she asked holding something in her hands.  It was a black and gold picture frame with glass still in tact casing a sheet of paper.  My heart startled.  I could not believe my eyes.  How could I have forgotten.

The sheet of paper remained in good condition other than smeared ink marks perhaps weathered by time and moisture.  The only other evident of time was the date reflected, March 22, 2003.  Four days before his passing.  Four days before my father departed to the other side, I had written a poem.  A poem cased in a black and gold frame.  A poem I called "Daddy's Essence".

It turned out to be the perfect Father's Day.
Thank you for stopping by and sharing this moment with me!
I am excited for what awaits for me in the horizon.  I have a feeling its going to be superdeedooperdee great!  Life has definitely been smiling my way and things just seem to be fluttering into place like wild butterflies!   What has life been smiling your way these days?

Tootles!
