A while back I read a post by fellow blogger Stephanie of Bassibility where she expressed that when she was younger she was told of certain rules to follow when buying clothes. One of those rules was that fat girls couldn't wear white pants. My sentiments exactly when she said "stupid rule". Anyway, her post inspired my post in the fact that it got me thinking that I never did wear white pants. If I owned one pair of white pants, it was too many. Also, I don't recall ever "consciously" not wearing them, so I'm also thinking it was a "subconscious" doing. Perhaps because I was already conditioned somehow with this stupid rule.
What I would really like to know is who came up with such a foolish and ignorant rule? I mean really? Look at me I look fabulously adorable in my white pants. Don't you think so?
I love this outfit. I love the way the teal sweater compliments the outfit with a pop of color. I am rockin' my white pants and I LOVE it! I have never been in sync with my self love and acceptance as I am today!

Really? I'd never heard that rule before! The only white clothing rule that I'd ever heard before was that you're apparently not supposed to wear white after Labor Day. I remember going to a wedding years ago that was the weekend after Labor Day and my mother fussed and fussed because I chose to wear white strappy sandals and part of my skirt happened to be white with some big bright colored flowers along with it... and apparently that was supposed to be a fahsion faux pas.
ReplyDeleteThe funny subtext to this was after my mother had made a such a huge deal about it, and I decided to disregard it and wear it anyway... I got complemented by a bunch of ladies at the wedding who worked in the fashion industry for what I was wearing.
That said... white isn't a color that's in abundance in my wardrobe just because I personally don't think it's a very practical color. I'm the sort of person who spills ketchup on herself at random and ends up accidentally sitting on stuff that stains... so no white pants for me!
Hola Nikkiana! Your wearing white after Labor Day and then getting bunch of compliments on it, just proves how stupid rules are (at least this rule). I always enjoy your comments...they bring me laughter...in a good way. Thanks for stopping by and voicing your thoughts! I appreciate YOU!

I've never heard that rule either! I don't wear white pants, however, that is a personal rule because I routinely (daily?) stain my clothes. My husband makes fun of me because whenever I wear white, I definitely drop food or drink on it.
ReplyDeleteHola Chelsea, I am glad you chose not to wear white for your own reasons. Thanks for stopping by and voicing your thoughts!

I agree with both above posters. Never heard the no white rule for fat girls, but did know about no white after Labor Day. I also don't wear much white due to my inability to eat without making a mess. It's a running joke in my house to guess how long I can get through the day without spilling or dropping something on my clothes:/ I do have white clothes, but get nervous wearing them while eating. lol
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable in white though! I adore that cardigan too, great color:)
Hola Jenni, I've heard of the "no white after Labor Day" rule too and I would break that rule as well. Thanks for voicing your thoughts. I appreciate YOU.

p.s. loving the pink!
You look smashing in that white ensemble! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteAnd my rule is that if you like how you look, screw everyone else 'cause if they don't like it, tough!!
Gracias Cassie! I agree along with you. Thanks for voicing you thoughts!

My grandmother used to constantly remind me that "girls like me" shouldn't wear white pants. And it certainly wasn't because I was prone to getting dirty.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit on you. The teal is a perfect compliment to the white pants!
Thanks Meg, I didn't actually notice how nice the teal complimented the white! pants until after I saw the pictures! Thanks for stopping by.

Hi, I just found your blog and I had to come and tell that you are looking very gorgeous in those white pants! It's a stupid rule so I'm glad you broke it.
ReplyDeleteHola Kirsikka!
DeleteThank you so much for the kind words...geez I blushing now. Yea, I'm glad I broke it too! ;)

My skinny co-worker told me she never wears white pants because they make her look fat. I was complaining that whenever I wear white pants I manage to spill something on them. I wear white all the time in summer and even once or twice after Labor Day. The key is to make sure they fit well and have some type of lining.
ReplyDeleteYou look great by the way. I love your outfit and the turquoise shirt looks fabulous with your pants.
